Another dance infused piece.
'Pass' is a collaboration between Australian artist Rochelle Haley,
Swiss choreographer Marion Ruchti and French dancer Sarath Amarasingam.
The art performance involves live drawing that is based on, as well as
instructs, the improvisation of two dancers. It is a process whereby
movement becomes matter that is passed between dancers and artist
through both trace and gesture.
It seems the more I look the more dance/ drawing performanes are popping up. I think if we go down the participatory route then dance will be difficult, but I suppose we dont have to really dance just over exaggerate our movements to make the performance more intersting.
Yes D, I find it interesting that through our research the relationship between dance and performative drawing is coming through very strong. I guess the relationship between movement and drawing is an obvious one, as drawing is often a gestural practice. We have also found relationship between sound/music and drawing. These practices suggest freedom of expression using drawing as a tool for recording this. Conversely we have also found work that explores the relationship between constraint/dictated movement, and drawing that works with these constraints e.g. Rebecca Horn, and Sol Lewitt to a degree. Working with these constraints interests me more, definitely. What y'all think?
