when first asked about the element of audience participation the first reaction i had was to try and solve it in some way.I now understand that there must be a somewhat organic approach. Things will adjust themselves natrualy and it will all come together in the end.Things will happen bit by bit and i should not worry so much about solving problems that do no even exist yet. katy

  1. Oh please don't worry Miss Katy! I think I understand what you mean though.
I think we need to think about the real meaning of a participatory piece of work, that involves people outside our group.
When we had tutorial with DP I think he spoke about how participation necessitates letting go of control of the process and the outcome.
We have spoke quite prescriptively about involving people in a drawingm, in a way that we wnat to achieve a particular outcome i.e. a description on glass of observations outside and inside the gallery space.
At the same time, there needs to be some boundaries or rules.
    Mmm, what you do think?
(I have a book on Fluxus that I have not yet read, so I am all over it this week, promise!).
