This blog is to chart the progress of ideas, research and presentation for group art project involving David Batty, Katy Dixon, Pedro Montalvo and Tracey Smith.
I really like this guys drawings they are performed in front of attendees (he is also a dancer) I don't think it will be the route we take but I find this work quite inspiring. DB
Nice one D, thanks for this - I came across this guy too.
He is an American artist called Tony Orrico. He speaks of exploring 'the capacity of the human body as a physical tool for creating art'.
This is really exciting performance work, dynamic and full of vitality. The fact he was a dancer really shows I think - the work is a form of choreography. The way he uses his entire body to create these kind of geometric shapes is really striking. What was the name of that kids drawing game - sprirograph?
The real time element of his performance is interesting for our group too, from 15 minutes to 7 hours.
Really exciting work - could we trying testing some ideas/actions out on Mon while waiting for tutorial?
